Sacha Baron Cohen Gets Bond-Style Spoof Script Funded

Sacha Baron Cohen Gets Bond-Style Spoof Script Funded

It’s needless to say that Sacha Baron Cohen has reached a point in his career where he can pretty much do whatever he wants. So after playing a homosexual fashion designer, a Kazakhstani TV presenter, a Middle Eastern dictator, and of course, a weed slinging wannabe gangster from Staines, what’s next?

Well, despite building a career based on playing some of the most controversial and insensitive characters to ever hit the big screen, it appears that at heart Cohen is just like every other male in the Western world – he wants to be James Bond.

Now anyone that has seen one of Cohen’s films knows there’s a good chance he’ll never be the James Bond, but by writing a James Bond-style spoof film and putting himself in the lead, Cohen will get as close to playing 007 as his career path would probably ever allow.

It seems that Paramount Studio likes the idea also, agreeing to fund the project following a pitch from Cohen and his writing partner Phil Johnston. In a nutshell, the idea is for a film in which a James Bond-like spy is forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a moronic soccer hooligan.

At this point Cohen has not confirmed that he will star in the film, but considering he has never been involved in the writing of a film that he has not gone on to star in, there is a good chance we’ll see Cohen suiting up on the big screen soon.
