Livia Arena SS 13 collection

When you think Melbourne fashion you think luxurious fabrics, a simple silhouette and staples with a twist.  Local label Livia Arena epitomizes this aesthetic and brings a whole new level of sophistication in her latest SS 13 collection The Fold.

Prolific for her beautifully constructed garments, the ex-RMIT fashion student takes pride in being a label that designs and produces her garments locally.

Showing her debut collection at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival last year, her designs are now stocked in boutiques around Victoria and interstate.

Establishing herself as a Melbourne designer to watch, Livia Arena’s short film Forest Winter featured as part of this year’s  No Home 12 Fashion + Film, and she also set up shop in a pop up store for the South Melbourne markets SO:ME Space that launched late last year.

Stepping into Livia’s studio is like stepping into a dream scenario of a hip inner city dwelling, come fashion studio, come animal playground – she fosters kittens too, swoon!

Aside from our designer crush, we had a serious case of fashion lust over her last collection for AW 12 and we were not disappointed when we got a sneak peak at her latest lookbook for SS 13.

The new collection The Fold tempts with tailored pants, skate skirts, box tees, shift dresses and soft draping all in shades of pastel, black, white and pops of maroon and chocolate.

Each season we wait with anticipation for Livia’s latest update on the classic white shirt.  Next summer we’ll be rocking this sleeveless version with a stylish pleat on the back.

We’ll be lining up for the latest collection to hit stores, but in the meantime, there’s nothing like a little online shopping to appease fashion lust.
