Kele Okereke is the Sexiest Indie Rocker in All The Land
Nerve has named Bloc Party front man Kele Okereke as 2012’s sexiest man in indie rock.
There’s an elegant irony in crafting such a shallow list around artists who work to maintain musical credibility and avoid the dreaded ‘mainstream’ tag.
These poor sexy musicians! They simply cannot catch a break. No matter how long they go between washes or how persistently they cultivate a body odour reminiscent of somebody throwing up on the mothballs backstage, we can still find enough deliciously attractive indie rockers to make a top ten.
Kele is certainly a deserving winner in my eyes. Nerve cites his ”megawatt, insanely endearing smile” which is certainly evident in every interview, or personal encounter (damn you).
However, after seeing Kele perform at Parklife a few years ago where he took his shirt off, I’m more concerned with his megawatt, insanely endearing physique. If you are an unabashed pervert like me, you may sample this here.
Scrolling through the top ten provides plenty of extra eye-candy. If this was “America’s Next Top Creative and Tragically Misunderstood Model,” Deck D’arcy from Phoenix and Michael Angelakos from Passion Pit would have a strong chance to make the final cut. The same goes with The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon, who Nerve quite rightly point out “might be Ryan Gosling’s secret New Jersey twin.”
A surprise but welcome entry at number two was Anand Wilder from Yeasayer, a searchingly beautiful man with shiny raven locks women most definitely drool over.
Now, for those of you worried about such a sexist article, remember: it’s not sexist when it’s about men.
What’s that? There’s a female list?! My indignant fury knows no bounds! Sisters, let us storm the comments!
