Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best – Trailer
What could be more indie than an indie film about two indie guys on a mission to make unique music? That’s what you can expect from Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best, a new film written and directed by actor and writer Ryan O’Nan. The film follows the story of Alex, played by Ryan O’Nan (Eat Pray Love, The Dry Land), a employed, under-achiever who has just broken up with his girlfriend. To recover from the slump, Alex teams up with an eccentric musician, Jim, played by Michael Weston (The Dukes of Hazard, State of Play). The pair travel North America playing children’s instruments and hanging onto their last opportunity to achieve the dreams of their youth.
The film has some well known faces, including Arielle Kebbel (American Pie, John Tucker Must Die) who plays Alex’s love interest, Wilmer Valderrama (That 70′s Show, Fast Food Nation) and Andrew McCarthy (The Spiderwick Chronicles). It is Ryan O’Nans first attempt at directing a film. The film has been met with glowing reviews when it premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival. Oscilloscope Labs then chose to take the film on board.
The trailer gives the impression of a light-hearted, enjoyable indie flick, but given that Ryan O’Nan (who also wrote for MTV‘s US adaptation of Skins) has penned this tale, we can expect there will be darkness among the light.
The film will be widely released in the US on July 20, 2012. No Australian release date has been set as of yet.
