Anna Paquin Leads Golden Cast in ‘Margaret’

Anna Paquin Leads Golden Cast in ‘Margaret’

Anna Paquin is out in force this month with the season 5 premiere of True Blood to air this Sunday night and now the sneaky release of the 2005 film Margaret.

Yes, you are reading correctly it was filmed in 2005! Due to a long stall in final production requirements this drama has seemingly emerged from nowhere.

Margaret has a surprisingly flashy support cast of  Matt Damon , Mark Ruffalo and Matthew Broderick too.

Telling a tale of unfortunate tragedy the film unleashes the desperate attempts of a teenage girl struggling to grip with the reality of her involvement in a life changing accident.

Margaret alludes to a raw account of the fragile depths of human despair both found inside the teenage protagonist and the people in her life.

Director and playwright Kenneth Lonergan was inspired to write the film in 1996 after working with Anna Paquin in his play This Is Our Youth and eventually began writing the script in 2000.

During the processes of getting the film on screen there was trouble editing the film to an appropriate length, causing a tirade of legal disputes.

Beloved director of The Departed and Taxi Driver Martin Scorsese was soon involved in fixing the ever disastrous production of Margaret by persuading Lonergan to accept conditions of the final cut.  Although this meant the release of Margaret would be pushed into the background behind the box office hits.

Released to selected Australian cinema’s on June 14, 2012 Margaret has the awfully tough challenge of breaking free from its production drama, along with finding enough unique stature to compete with the big budget favourites.

In cinemas now (Australia).
