The trailer for the highly anticipated film adaptation of literary classic Anna Karenina has just been released. The film is based on the classic Russian novel by Leo Tolstoy and was directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice). It is the filmmaker’s third collaboration with starlet Kiera Knightley (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement) who stars as the titular lead.  The film also stars Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), and Aaron Johnson (Kick Ass) as her young lover.

Anna Karenina tells the story of a scandal amongst Russian high society in the late 19^th century.  The novel is widely considered in literary circles as one of the greatest novels written, adding to the anticipation and high expectations that this film has now set.

Anna Karenina is released in Australia on January 17, 2013.
